I have been to Momo I am and all its outlets multiple times. That is why when they introduced their Korean BBQ menu and seating arrangement, I knew they were going to nail it. And they did!
Want to try authentic Korean dishes like samgyeopsal and kimbap? They have it. Want to try a chicken set with soju? They have it too. You name it, they have it. And the best part? Thor ambiance.
It is literally perfect for a date night, a family feast, a corporate lunch, and even dinner with your group of friends.
So, without further ado, let me get right into the review of Momo I Am and their Korean food!
About Momo I Am
Momo I Am is a popular Pan-Asian restaurant chain in Kolkata, renowned for its delectable food, such as bao buns and signature momos.
While Momo I Am has multiple outlets across Kolkata, each known for its unique decor and gastronomical experience, I will be focusing on one of them. And that’s the Sector 5, Salt Lake outlet.
This one is noted for its huge seating area, live performances, and beautiful decoration. Other outlets of Momo I Am include:
- City Centre 1: CD 18, Near Kalyan Jewelers, City Centre 1, Sector 1, Salt Lake, Kolkata
- Chinar Park: Shop G-B, Ground Floor, Tarun Alo Apartment, Chinar Park, Kolkata
- Golpark: 43, Ground Floor And First Floor, Ballygunge Garden Road, Golpark, Kolkata
- Barrackpore: 15(16), Ghosh Para Road, Barrackpore, Kolkata
- Lake Gardens: 195C, Ward 93, Jodhpur Garden Colony, Lake Gardens, Kolkata
In September 2023, they introduced a Korean BBQ experience at their RDB Boulevard, Salt Lake outlet. This allowed diners to grill premium meats at their tables, complemented by house-made sauces and a variety of side dishes.
The restaurant has received positive reviews for its excellent food, service, and ambiance. Personally, I would also like to mention that you can compare it to the restaurants in Chinatown, highlighting the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
What Did We Love About Momo I Am?
If you’re a fan of Pan-Asian cuisine with a twist or simply someone on the hunt for the best Korean BBQ in Kolkata, Momo I Am is bound to steal your heart. Let me tell you all the good parts of the restaurant:
Food
Their newly introduced Korean BBQ experience is literally the best thing that any K-food lover could ask for. And the best part? It’s All You Can Eat!
You can enjoy grilling premium cuts of meat right at your table, complemented by a medley of house-made sauces, kimchi, and side dishes that pack a punch of authentic Korean flavors. And it does not stop there.
Their signature momos, bao buns, and hearty ramen bowls are just as delightful. Each dish is crafted with care, offering a perfect balance of flavor and texture. Trust me when I say this— one bite is all it takes to get hooked!
Ambiance
The moment you step into Momo I Am, you’ll instantly feel transported to a trendy eatery somewhere in Seoul. The quirky decor, with vibrant murals and cozy lighting, creates a warm yet lively vibe.
The Salt Lake RDB Boulevard outlet is especially popular for its spacious seating and Instagram-worthy aesthetics. What sets the place apart is the interactive nature of the Korean BBQ setup.
Moreover, I would even go to the extent of saying that it’s not just a meal. Rather, it’s an experience that everyone should have at least once.
Location
Finally, convenience is another big win for Momo I Am. With multiple outlets across Kolkata, the Salt Lake RDB Boulevard location stands out for its prime positioning.
Personally, I think that the restaurant is easy to spot and reach, no matter which part of the city you are traveling from.
Additionally, its proximity to offices and entertainment hubs makes it an ideal choice for lunch, dinner, or a weekend outing with friends and family
What Did We Hate About Momo I Am?
While Momo I Am offers a unique and enjoyable dining experience, there are a few areas that might make you think twice. Let me tell you some of the things that I did not like about this restaurant:
Portion
If you’re someone with a modest appetite, this might not be the best spot for you—especially when opting for their All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ.
While the concept sounds tempting, the price tag feels a bit steep if you can’t eat enough to justify it. With a fixed starting price of 3,000/-, you’re paying for the unlimited experience.
But if you’re not a big eater or prefer smaller portions, it might feel like you’re spending more than what you’re actually consuming. Moreover, it’s a great deal for foodies who love hearty meals, but casual diners might want to think twice before committing.
Price
Speaking of the price, Momo I Am isn’t exactly easy on the wallet. While their regular Pan-Asian menu offers some flexibility depending on what you order, the Korean BBQ experience is a fixed-price affair starting at ₹3,000 per person.
It’s understandable, given the premium cuts of meat, unlimited refills, and overall experience they offer, but it’s definitely a splurge.
If you’re dining with a group, the bill can quickly escalate, making this more of an occasional indulgence than a regular dining option. Therefore, for those looking for a budget-friendly meal, this may not be the ideal pick.
Service
Here’s where things got a little frustrating—the service. While the staff is polite and knowledgeable, the speed of service leaves room for improvement.
Orders can take longer than expected to arrive, and when it comes to the Korean BBQ setup, the wait for refills or additional items can feel a bit tedious.
For a concept that thrives on a seamless dining experience, the delays can be a letdown. Therefore, if you’re planning a visit, we recommend going with a bit of patience or visiting during non-peak hours to avoid unnecessary waits.
Final Verdict: Is It Worth Your Time And Money?
From the drool-worthy food to the lively ambiance and convenient location, it checks all the right boxes for a memorable outing. Between the high price tag, portion concerns, and slightly sluggish service, it’s not without its challenges. However, for those willing to splurge and soak in the experience, it might still be worth a try.
