A big warm hello to all my Hallyu peeps. Today, we will discuss a very interesting and happy topic—Korean fashion!

I have a ritual—well, it’s more of an obsession. Whenever I shop for my summer or winter outfits, I go through Instagram or Pinterest and keep up with the current trends in Korean fashion.

While researching the top fashion trends in Korea in 2025, I noticed a slight shift in the Korean fashion game over the last 1-2 years.

Although the Korean fashion game has always been an umbrella concept, where Y2k, Dark feminine, and cottagecore coexisted happily, something was always absent.

Korean fashion has always been restrictive, or perhaps the right word is confined to muted colors, which still play a part in all the fashion genres.

This might change for good in 2025. Slowly but steadily, Korean fashion is moving towards a fashion revolution, and my favorite fashion genre to date: Dopamine Dressing.

Confused? Interested? Want to know more? You know me well, my friends. I will explain it all. Hop on with me on this journey of unraveling Korea’s journey of dopamine dressing.

What Is Dopamine Dressing Theory?

As we continuously move towards a much more conscious and aware society, the credit goes to some Millennials and a whole lot of Gen Zs; we are redefining fashion, massively.

For us, fashion is more than stylish apparel; it is a way of life. It allows us to express our personalities accordingly.

Dopamine dressing is a fashion genre in which people bring back loud colours, spunky accessories, and a spikey attitude that screams, “I Am Who I Am.’

This fashion trend focuses on how our moods relate to our clothing choices. Dopamine dressing is about wearing what makes you happy.

So, how does it work? The main idea is to choose outfits that bring you joy, regardless of the latest trends.

Dopamine Dressing Psychology

You already know that specific colors can evoke psychological responses in us. However, this trend encompasses more than just vibrant patterns and fabrics.

Oh, and did you know that the way clothing feels and its overall style can also enhance our mood?

This concept, referred to by researchers as “enclothed cognition,” suggests that clothing carries symbolic meanings that impact our psychology and performance.

Therefore, the key is to wear what makes you feel good, whether you prefer a colorful, attractive, or simply cozy outfit.

What Are The Features Of Dopamine Dressing?

A few features of Dopamine Dressing will help you understand the theory in a broader sense.

As you know, all fashion genres have certain characteristics, which, if aligned, make them easier to understand.

Bright and Bold Colours

As I have mentioned numerous times in this article, bright and bold colors are the cornerstone of dopamine dressing.

Whether you’re flaunting a pop of pink in a cardigan or breezy blue trousers, dopamine dressing is colorful and chirpy.

Fun Patterns

Nothing speaks dopamine dressing as fluently as funky patterns do. Playful and vibrant prints, such as florals, abstract, and geometric prints, are a complete giveaway.

Different patterns tell a lot about other people’s mindsets and choices. However, one similarity among them is how they all contribute to a sense of positivity in their minds.

Comfort Over Anything

Comfort is key to dopamine dressing. If you are wondering how to incorporate comfort into your style, try choosing soft fabrics, relaxed fits, and breathable designs.

These allow you to move freely and feel good all day. Wearing comfortable clothes shows in your attitude. It boosts your confidence and makes you ready to take on the world.

Playful Mix N Match

Dopamine dressing is not just about wearing bright colors and comfy fabrics; it’s also about choosing outfits with purpose.

You can mix and match different pieces to create a style that shows off your personality and creativity.

The options are endless, whether you layer different patterns, pair a bright top with classic jeans, or go for a fun monochrome look.

Accessorize It All

Your outfit won’t be complete without the perfect accessories. Accessories like bold jewelry and unique handbags can make an outfit truly stand out.

Choose fun and quirky pieces that make you happy and add a bit of your personality to your style.

How Are Koreans Incorporating Dopamine Dressing Into Their Fashion Game?

For a long time, Korean fashion has been at the top of its game. The world is massively influenced by the clothing and beauty trends that the Hallyu wave continues to bring.

Nevertheless, it is aiming higher by incorporating funky colours and spunka accessories, which are taking over the category of Korean fashion.

Although the trend of Dopamine got its well-deserved hype in 2023.

Korean Celebrities Who Exemplify Dopamine Dressing

You people must have heard of G-dragon already. I mean, if you are a K-pop stan for a while now! Then, at this point, G-dragon should be at the top of your list!

He is known for his unique and fashionable style. Many fans and fashion lovers (including me, of course!) admire his looks, that’s for sure!

While he is not the epitome of “dopamine dressing,” which uses bright colors to improve mood, he often wears bold statement pieces that align with the theory.

His recent “Grandma-core” style includes knitted cardigans and scarves with a fun and playful feel that can lift spirits.

How can I forget about my bias? Jennie, also known as Jennie Ruby Jane, wears dopamine-style clothing in everyday outfits.

This style focuses on wearing clothes that make you feel good, often with bright colors and bold patterns.

Jennie loves to wear comfortable items, like oversized jackets and baggy jeans, with fun accessories. She often wears Chanel pieces that reflect her personal style and confidence.

Is Dopamie Dressing Just Another Fashion Trend, Or Is There More To It?

Dopamine dressing is another fashion trend in the Western world, where it has already become extremely popular.

Nevertheless, the history of certain societies and civilizations, such as Korean society, doesn’t allow these trends to remain as mere trends.

Korea’s entertainment industry has suffered greatly due to its extreme work culture and condemnable pressure on celebrities.

Of course, the common man has had to fight another similar fight to deal with the extreme hazards that a common life demands.

Fashion is one such artistic weapon that helps us, both the stars and the common man, win over these societal and mental conflicts and feel good about our journeys.

Therefore, although the concept of dopamine dressing is still not famous in the Korean fashion context, it is more than a trend.

It showcases their victories over their respective conflicting situations, their lives, their professions, and society’s demands.

It means a lot to both Koreans and fashion enthusiasts like me that I can write this article with relevant examples and make an argument that Korean fashion in 2025 has glimpses of dopamine dressing.

Moreover, it signifies that people are becoming more aware of how what they wear plays a significant role in maintaining their mental and social health.
