On the tenth anniversary of their group, SEVENTEEN celebrates with a burst of energy. Their fifth studio album, ‘Happy Burstday,’ is more than just a party; it’s a renewal.

And guess what folks! This album mixes their past, present, and future sounds to create something fresh and exciting.

In Seventeen Happy Burstday, the title combines “happy birthday” and “burst” to highlight SEVENTEEN’s energetic transformation, almost like a renaissance.

It shows their aim to become a “new SEVENTEEN” and embrace a bold new direction as they enter their second decade.

SEVENTEEN gave their fans, CARATs, a fantastic birthday gift by selling 2.27 million copies. On May 26, 2025, the K-pop group released their 11th mini-album, HAPPY BURSTDAY.

Surprise, surprise! This sold 2,269,401 copies on its first day, according to Hanteo Chart. This number makes it the highest first-day album sales for any K-pop release in 2025 so far.

SEVENTEEN’s global reach is stronger than ever. Their album HAPPY BURSTDAY reached No. 2 on the Worldwide iTunes Albums Chart.

It hit No.1 on iTunes in 15 countries and topped Europe’s iTunes Top Albums Chart. The lead single, Thunder, also climbed to the top of the iTunes Top Songs chart in 13 regions.

Well, I am not going to lie, each and every song is a major, major hit. It’s like this album is ruling my playlist for teh upcoming month, on a loop!

However, the solos are what I believe gave them soaring success. Having spent 10 years in the cutthroat industry, I have learned one big lesson: giving it back to the haters with style.

Additionally, Thunder reached the Melon TOP 100, showing its legendary status. The album includes 13 solo tracks from every member and 3 group tracks, making it a fan favorite.

Here’s the list of solo tracks:

– Jungle—S. Coups

– Coincidence—Jeonghan

– Fortunate Change—Joshua

– Gemini—Jun

– 99.9%—Wonwoo

– Damage—Hoshi

– Destiny—Woozi

– Skyfall—THE8

– Shake It Off—Mingyu (sounds like Taylor Swift!)

– Happy Virus—DK (warning: it’s contagious)

– Shining Star—Vernon

Seventeen Happy Burstday: The Album Of Dazzling Solos

Of course, I need a whole separate space just to talk about the solos! I mean, what was that Seventeen? Are you trying to murder us? That too with such talent?

HBD is such a great song! I love the uplifting vibe, especially the chorus. I want to hear it at all my future birthdays; it’s my favorite group song! THUNDER is catchy, too.

The whistle and the deep voices in the chorus are so good. I just wish it were longer and had a bridge; it would be perfect as a club banger!

Bad Influence

This! Oh my god, I have been dancing my life off on this! However, and there is always a catch when it comes to feeling with these agencies, it didn’t stick with me in its censored version.

I know! It pains me, too, to say this. It would have been my favorite group song, but the censored version doesn’t work for me.

The beeps feel awkward. We really need the explicit version released; otherwise, what’s the point of swearing? It’s still a great song!

Skyfall

Ah! This song feels like a gem, and the only one on his album. My dear Hao’s voice is so beautiful and airy; it’s such a pleasure to listen to. I absolutely loved it; it’s one of my favorites.

Skyfall is my big surprise because I wasn’t that into the preview, but I LOVE the full version. I love how he sounds in it, and the song has a great structure.

I really loved it and I already have it on my gym rotation playlist; I’m going to go hard there.

Fortunate Change

This song just gives me so much joy! Hearing Shua’s beautiful vocals in a full song is amazing. The line “I’m in love” was perfect, and the fun instrumental made me love it overall.

If you ask me, I think that this is Joshua’s forte; this style is exactly what he should carry forward to his upcoming albums.

He just sounded so sultry yet so subtle, and doing it all with absolute style and sheen. Well, is this how incredible talent sounds? Might be!

99.9%

I cannot begin to explain how much it feels like Wonwoo in the best way. It’s cheerful, and I really liked it. His pretty vocals make me feel so good; I hope we can see this song live in the future.

Damage

Honestly, I had high expectations for this song, and boy oh boy, it has exceeded them all and more.

I loved the ‘Hoshi Baby’ part, and the beat is great. His singing parts are good. Also, I might be canceled for this, but for a second, I even said that this is the best Hoshi solo for me!

Shake It Off

This song lets Mingyu flow throughout, which I loved. Again, I wish it didn’t have bleeps. I understand censoring for broadcasts,

However, we should have cursing in official releases. The song is a good club banger with a nice beat.

Happy Virus

How do I even explain how much this song is perfect for DK, our Happy Virus! I loved the instrumental, and his beautiful vocals kept me smiling throughout.

Destiny

It’s a Woozi ballad, and of course, it made me emotional. His angelic voice always brings tears; I’m eager to see the lyrics for this one. I absolutely loved it.

Shining Star

Well, I don’t know how to explain this in a better way. Let’s say I am out of adjectives. When I first heard it, I went back in time and thought of when I first listened to a Seventeen song.

This song showcases Vernon’s vocals in such a dreamy way, which I live for. It felt nostalgic, and I really liked the instrumental and his singing style.

Trigger

This one starts off great! The beat reminds me of something, but I can’t place it. Let’s just say the ultimate fact: Dino never disappoints.

His versatile voice amazes me, and I want choreo for this song right away. It’s definitely one of my favorites!

Jungle

What an amazing intro! Coups’ rapping is everything, and his flow is so smooth. He’ll shine in live performances of this song, and I can’t wait.

Coincidence

Seventeen’s new song “Coincidence” is praiseworthy solely for Jeonghan’s sweet and unique vocals, as well as the lovely lyrics.

I am particularly expressing my appreciation for Jeonghan’s vocal style, which they describe as special and charming.

The song’s lyrics are also commendable for their sweetness and preciousness. Good job!

Gemini

Seventeen’s new song “Gemini” is generally well-received by fans. Many appreciate the song’s unique concept, which is inspired by the duality and adaptability of the Gemini zodiac sign.

The song features Jun’s original lyrics, also known as Gemini among fans, which are deeply moving and emotional, exploring themes of separation and longing.

I personally didn’t vibe with it much, maybe because I’m not a Gemini myself. Idk guys!

My Takeaway

I have said this before, and I will say it again: seventeen has never been better. The rebirth has worked wonders, and the result is worthy of a thousand praises.

I just finished listening to the entire album, and I’m really happy and a bit overwhelmed! I truly like all the solo songs.

My current favorites are “Skyfall,” “Destiny,” “Raindrop,” and “Trigger.” It’s been a while since I listened to a K-pop album this long.

What is your opinion of the whole album? I would love to know which are your favorite songs. Do let me know in the comment section below!
