Well, well, well! Who do we have here? BTS, it’s time for you to step aside, cause we have our top two Kpop groups from a Netflix animated movie.

Yes! You heard it right. HUNTR/X /X and Saja Boys are fictional groups from the animated film “KPop Demon Hunters.”

Animators and filmmakers brought them to life with help from many people in the K-pop world. Now, they are global superstars.

“KPop Demon Hunters” is produced by Sony Pictures Animation and released by Netflix. The viewers have quickly filled a Tumblr community page for the film with fan art.

A Reddit thread keeps the conversation going about the movie, including talks about a possible sequel.

On TikTok, fans have created videos of themselves recreating dances from the film, sharing their reactions to key scenes, and showcasing their cosplays.

These videos have gained hundreds of millions of views. There are also Wiki pages dedicated to the groups.

So, I feel it’s worth checking out. What is all this hype about? Let’s explore everything about the hit Netflix animated show.

K-pop Demon Hunters: The Plot Of The Show

The film is about the band HUNTR/X /X/X, which includes members Mira (May Hong), Zoey (Ji-young Yoo), and Rumi (Arden Cho).

Their job is to keep demons out of the human world using their music. The barrier they create can only become permanent under a certain condition.

Now, what is that condition? Once all demons are removed from the human world, it is a key part of the story.

As the band prepares for their final challenge, a demon named Jinu (Ahn Hyo-seop) comes up with a new plan.

He forms a rival group called The Saja Boys to gather energy from fans and weaken the barriers.

Jinu wants to feed human souls to the demon ruler, whose name is Gwi-ma, and stop HUNTR/X from completing their mission to get rid of demons.

The Role Of Music In K-Pop Demon Hunters

Well, of course, it’s a movie about K-pop groups, who use music to keep demons away! Woah! Of course, music plays a very important role here.

Chartbusters From K-Pop Demon Hunters

The soundtrack to the Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters has achieved significant chart success.

With several songs debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 and the soundtrack album reaching the top of the Billboard 200.

The fictional K-pop groups from the film, Huntr/x /x/x (a girl group) and Saja Boys (a boy band), have seen their songs rise to the top of the charts.

“Golden” by Huntr/x x/x/x reached the top 10 on the Streaming Songs chart, a first for a fictional act. The soundtrack itself is the highest-charting soundtrack of 2025 so far.

What Is K-pop Demon Hunters Inspired By?

The film was not originally meant to focus on K-pop, according to Maggie Kang, a director of the film.

She said, “At first, I only had a demon hunter idea because I wanted a project that would show Korean culture. Then I stumbled into demonology.”

Kang explained that the idea of demon hunting led her to K-pop. She believed the characters she created, who fight demons, needed a public presence.

About nine years ago, when she started brainstorming, BTS was very popular.

Many studios wanted to create a K-pop story or brand, but no one had really figured it out yet.

She found it fun to combine demon hunting with K-pop, and it evolved into a musical.

Kang and Appelhans wrote the script with Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan.

As the idea evolved into a musical with two rival K-pop groups, Kang faced her biggest challenge: ensuring the story did not end up like a typical musical.

What Other Movies Are Like K-pop Demon Hunters?

You might have guessed this was coming! I have a feeling this great deal of F.O.M.O. after

Finishing K-pop Demon Hunters.

Therefore, I have curated a personal list of all the other animated films/ series you can watch if you liked Kpop Demon Hunters:

1. Queens Of The Dead

“Queens of the Dead” follows a group of drag queens and club kids in Brooklyn who must band together to fight off a zombie outbreak during their drag show.

They set aside their conflicts to use their unique skills and personalities to combat the brain-hungry undead.

    2. My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks

Twilight Sparkle and her friends start a band for their high school’s musical showcase. They soon face competition from three new students who have unusual powers.

      3. Nimona

“Nimona,” the animated film adapted from ND Stevenson’s graphic novel, is generally well-received for its unique blend of fantasy, sci-fi, and social commentary.

With particular praise for its animation, music, and exploration of themes like acceptance and identity.

Some critics found the plot predictable, but the execution was strong enough to maintain engagement.

        4. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Scott Pilgrim is the bass guitarist for a garage-rock band. He usually finds it easy to get a girlfriend, but breaking up with them is another story.

However, when he meets Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), he discovers that she comes with a significant problem: she has an army of ex-boyfriends who want to eliminate him.

          5. Turning Red

Turning Red and K-Pop Demon Hunters share similarities in their core themes and character dynamics.

Particularly in how they handle the concept of hidden powers and the struggle to reconcile personal identity with external expectations.

Both stories feature a protagonist who must come to terms with a hidden, potentially shameful, aspect of their identity.

The red panda in Turning Red and demon-hunting abilities in K-Pop Demon Hunters – while also navigating the pressures of family and societal norms.

            6. Jentry Chau Vs The Underworld

Both Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld and K-Pop Demon Hunters feature young heroes who are secretly demon hunters, balancing their normal lives with their supernatural duties.

They both incorporate elements of fantasy and folklore, with Jentry Chau featuring Chinese mythology and K-Pop Demon Hunters referencing a Korean legend about a magical barrier formed by music.

              7. Maya And The Three

Maya and the Three and K-Pop Demon Hunters are both animated films with strong female leads.

However, they differ significantly in their themes and settings. “Maya and the Three” is a Mesoamerican fantasy adventure about a warrior princess saving the world.

On the other hand, K-Pop Demon Hunters is a modern story about a K-pop girl group that secretly hunts demons.

                8. Big Hero 6

Big Hero 6 and K-Pop Demon Hunters share a similarity in that they center around a group of young heroes who initially operate in secret before becoming public figures. and also feature a strong emphasis on music and performance.

However, “Big Hero 6” focuses on a group of tech-savvy individuals who become superheroes after a tragedy.

On the other hand, K-Pop Demon Hunters is about a K-pop girl group that secretly fights demons.

                  9. Over The Moon

Kpop Demon Hunters and Over the Moon are different animated films with distinct plots and themes, but they share some thematic similarities.

Over the Moon is about a girl who builds a rocket to the moon to prove the existence of a moon goddess.

On the other hand, Kpop Demon Hunters focuses on a K-pop girl group that is also a demon hunter fighting against evil forces.

They both, however, explore themes of family, love, and overcoming adversity, albeit through different narratives.

                    10. Bratz The Movie

K-Pop Demon Hunters and Bratz share the common theme of female protagonists who challenge social expectations and find strength in their friendships.

Though the execution and specific narratives differ significantly. “K-Pop Demon Hunters” focuses on a group of K-pop idols who secretly work as demon hunters.

On the other hand, Bratz: The Movie centers on four teenage girls from different cliques who create a new, inclusive friend group.
