I’ve been super into Korean entertainment for ages. And I’ve got to say, the Wooga Squad’s friendship is just the best!

If you want some friend goals, you need to check out the Wooga Squad. It’s a group of 5 Korean celebs, Park Seo-joon, Park Hyung-sik, BTS’s V, Choi Woo-shik from Parasite, and Peakboy.

With all the drama between famous people, the Wooga Squad really shows what it’s like when friends are like family.

What Is the Wooga Squad?

The Wooga Squad is basically a group of five Korean celebs—Park Seo-joon, BTS’s V (Kim Taehyung), Choi Woo-shik, Park Hyung-sik, and music producer Peakboy. They’re known for being real friends for a long time, way before they got super famous.

They’re not like those phony celeb friendships you see sometimes. The Wooga Squad is all about real trust and helping each other.

What’s really great is that they come from different parts of Korean entertainment. You have K-dramas, K-pop, movies, and music all mixed together. It feels super real. In an industry where everyone is trying to climb the ladder, the Wooga Squad proves that friendship can actually exist, even when you’re a celeb.

Five stars. One friendship. Zero pretense.

Meaning Behind the Name “Wooga Squad”

So, the name Wooga actually comes from the Korean phrase “우리 가족 (Uri Gajok),” which means our family. So, technically, it is ‘Woo’ from Uri and ‘Ga’ from Gajuk

It basically shows how the guys really feel about each other – like they’re a family, not just coworkers.

In Korea, calling someone family means a lot. It means you’re loyal, responsible, and feel safe with them. By calling themselves the Wooga Squad, they’re saying their friendship is for real.

Besides, fans really like the name, because it shows things that are important in Korean culture – like keeping relationships strong, being honest with your feelings, and growing together.

That’s probably why people all over the world still look up what the Wooga Squad name means. It stands for something special in the celebrity world – belonging without thinking about benefits!

Wooga Squad Members: Complete Profiles

Now that we are through with the meaning and history behind Wooga Squad, let me tell you who are the members in this popular and really cool celeb gang!

Park Seo-joon

The first member in the Wooga Squad is one of my favorite actors Park Seo Joon!

People usually see Park Seo-joon as the rock of the group. He’s been in popular shows like Kill Me, Heal MeWhat’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, and Itaewon Class, making him known for being reliable and able to play different roles.

In the Wooga Squad, Seo-joon is kind of like the leader, but not in an bossy way. More like he keeps everyone steady. The other guys often say he’s someone they can trust and who keeps them down-to-earth, a friend who’s there when you need him without making a fuss.

V (Kim Taehyung – BTS)

Since he’s in BTS, V makes the Wooga Squad known all over the world, sharing them with tons of people who might not even watch K-dramas. But fans really love that he’s so loyal to his friends, not just that he’s famous.

Being an ARMY myself, I know that he’s like super busy! However, somehow, V always manages to make time for the group. For instance, when he supports them publicly, visits them out of the blue, or sends sweet messages.

He talks honestly about friendship, feeling lonely, and taking care of yourself, which makes the group feel more real and shows that celebrities are just people too.

Choi Woo-shik

While still extremely popular before, Choi Woo-shik became a bigger star after being in Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning Parasite, and then in the hit show Our Beloved Summer

He’s someone who’s really good at showing his emotions in a simple way. And that is exactly what he does in this group— he brings good vibes and funny moments to the Wooga Squad.

His friendships feel real, not forced. In most of the interviews that I have come across, I have seen Woo-shik mention how the group helps him stay humble. Especially when he’s dealing with stress in his career. He proves that being successful doesn’t mean you have to be alone.

Park Hyung-sik

Park Hyung-sik is the next member of the squad. Personally, I would say that he is a great example of an actor who started as an idol and made it work.

Since his days with ZE:A to his main roles in Strong Woman Do Bong-soon and Happiness, he’s slowly gained respect as a real actor.

His time in the military actually brought the group closer, with the guys showing support while he was enlisted. Hyung-sik’s honest and thoughtful personality makes him a steady support for the crew.

Peakboy

The final member of this group is Peakboy. I know, I know, he often gets missed when people talk about the group, but he’s the creative force of the Wooga Squad.

As a well-regarded producer and indie artist, he’s worked with V on music and has a strong reputation in Korea’s underground music world.

Peakboy being there reminds fans that being important isn’t just about being seen. His part shows how the Wooga Squad values skill, history, and trust more than popularity.

How The Wooga Squad Friendship Began

So, the Wooga Squad started way back in 2016 on the set of the show Hwarang. That’s where Park Seo-joon, V, and Park Hyung-sik met. Choi Woo-shik and Peakboy got close to them later through friends and work stuff (let’s say “overlapping social and creative spaces” to sound a little more mature!)

What started as just chillin’ together turned into a real friendship, even with crazy fame, military service, and super busy lives. A lot of celeb squads don’t last, but the Wooga Squad has just gotten tighter because they didn’t get together for publicity.

Their friendship seems real because it is. No contracts, no branding, just people who genuinely like hanging out with each other.

Wooga Squad In The Spotlight: Shows, Appearances & Projects

The show In the SOOP: Friendcation on Disney+ let more people see how well the group got along. What made the show good was that it just showed their friendship without making things too dramatic.

When Peakboy and V worked together on music, you could see how well they clicked creatively. Plus, when they posted stuff on social media like birthday parties or sending each other off to the military, it usually blew up because it felt real.

Because they’re popular, brands want to work with them, and the media covers them a lot. But it doesn’t seem like the group tries hard to be seen. That’s part of what makes them cool.

The Wooga Squad’s popularity comes from their genuine male friendship, something that’s rare to see without the drama. They’re friends from different fields like K-pop, movies, TV, and music, which is why they appeal to so many.

They aren’t scared to show how they feel, support each other, and just be close. It’s refreshing because guys don’t always feel like they can be this open. The Wooga Squad brings something we haven’t seen before.

I think the Wooga Squad has changed how people view celebrity friendships in Korea. They’ve shown that you don’t need to be alone to be successful, and that being an individual is fine if you collaborate with others.

You can see their influence in the increase of friendship-based shows and fans liking more groups as a group. People come for one member and stay for all five, spreading across spaces of social connections.

Importantly, their impact is cultural—not commercial.
